WHAT DOES THE PRINT MEAN?
“Mehr Liebe geht nicht” – German for “no greater love” – is printed on a shirt that shows Jesus on the cross. The line points to exactly that moment: Jesus gives his life, and love cannot give more than that. Here’s what’s behind the design, which Bible verses belong to it, and how it lives on today in the No Greater Love Boxy T-Shirt.
What does the “Mehr Liebe geht nicht” design show?
Jesus on the cross is at the center. No ornaments around it, no filter that softens the moment. The cross isn’t a decorative symbol here – it’s the place where you can see how far God’s love goes: all the way to the end.
Then there’s the line “Mehr Liebe geht nicht”. It’s deliberately simple. It doesn’t explain theology, it states a fact. Wearing the shirt isn’t wearing a slogan, it’s wearing a reminder – for yourself and for everyone who sees it.
Why Jesus on the cross – and not a prettier picture?
Many Christian designs show light, doves or hearts. Nothing wrong with that. But the cross is the core of the Christian faith, and it’s uncomfortable. It tells of pain, of mockery and of a death Jesus didn’t deserve.
That’s exactly why it’s on the shirt. We all know love that shows up in the good moments. Love that stays when it hurts is rare. The cross shows that second kind of love – not as a nice idea, but as a story that actually happened.
Which Bible verse is behind the line?
“Mehr Liebe geht nicht” isn’t a word-for-word Bible quote. But it sums up, in everyday words, what Jesus himself said on the evening before his death:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13 (KJV)
There is no greater love – that’s the point. And Jesus didn’t just talk about it. Four chapters later in John’s Gospel, he lays down his life. The shirt holds both together: the word and the act.
What does John 19:30 mean on the shirt?
John 19:30 is part of the design. These are the last words of Jesus on the cross recorded in John’s Gospel:
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
John 19:30 (KJV)
“It is finished” sounds like an ending, but it isn’t a sentence of defeat. Finished means completed, fulfilled, done. What Jesus came to do is done. For you, that means you don’t have to earn God’s love first. It’s already there.
And that love wants to keep flowing. John later writes in his first letter:
We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19 (KJV)
From the hero shirt to the No Greater Love Boxy T-Shirt
The design first appeared on the original “Mehr Liebe geht nicht” shirt: a black oversize shirt in heavy cotton with an acid-wash finish. Its rough, worn surface was meant to carry the reality of that moment. That hero shirt is currently sold out.
The design lives on in the No Greater Love Boxy T-Shirt. It carries the same Jesus print “Mehr Liebe geht nicht” on the front and has a short, wide cut with dropped shoulders that gives the design space. The facts:
- 230 g/m² single jersey in 100% combed cotton, densely knitted and keeps its shape even after many washes
- Elastic ribbed collar, reinforced seams at the collar and shoulders
- Eight colors: Mid Heather Gray, Dark Gray, Black, White, Gray Beige, Denim Blue, Orange and Cigarette Gray
Eight colors means you’ll find one that fits you – quiet in gray and black, or bold in orange and denim blue. The message stays the same.
Passing love on: the “Send Jesus’ Love” experience
A shirt can remind you, but love wants to move. That’s why the SOURCE___CHANNEL has the experience Send Jesus’ Love. It asks the question the design leaves open: who can you pass some of this love on to today?
Maybe it’s a message to someone who’s alone right now. Maybe it’s a prayer for someone you find difficult. The cross shows that love costs something. You can still pass it on in small ways.
Frequently asked questions
Is “Mehr Liebe geht nicht” a Bible quote?
No. The line is Source Mode’s own wording. But it picks up John 15:13, which says that no one has greater love than the one who lays down his life for his friends.
Is the original hero shirt still available?
The original acid-wash oversize shirt is currently sold out. You’ll find the Jesus print “Mehr Liebe geht nicht” on the No Greater Love Boxy T-Shirt in eight colors.
Is it okay to wear Jesus on the cross on clothing?
For centuries, the cross has been the most visible sign of the Christian faith. What matters is how you wear it: not as a fashion gimmick, but as an honest reminder of who you trust.
If the design speaks to you, take a moment in the “Send Jesus’ Love” experience and pass that love on to someone today.
